Mediaeval manuscripts, while often depicting scenes of war or courtly love also occasionally feature images of couples enjoying themselves in the bedroom. The idea behind this print came from an idle thought about what happened to Lord and Lady Bertilak after Gawain had left the castle of Hautdesert in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. When cutting a linocut print, it is often difficult to imagine how the final image emerges; I was pleased with the way that the couple appear as just two ordinary folk, happy with each other.
One of variable edition of 3, hand printed on a Victorian Albion Press in Cambridgeshire, UK. Signed and editioned by the artist and printed on 250 gsm Somerset Velvet Paper. The printed part of the image measures approximately 6 x 6 inches (15 x 15cm).
