Stonehenge when seen from the A303 is one of the most evocative sights anyone can see when travelling across Britain; it has been visible from this road for centuries as a beacon to travellers heading west or east.
This linocut print captures the mystery of Stonehenge and places it within a darkening landscape. As in reality, the stones appear somewhat underwhelming within their vast landscape yet their shape and majesty makes them so much larger in our mind. I enjoyed the effects made in this print by the black plate darkening the sky with the cuts made by the blade on the block.
